Contrast: being strikingly different

For as long as I can remember, I've loved the contrast between light and dark. Probably because I like the light wayyy better (because the dark is scary). The different between the stars and the night sky, the white sand and the deep ocean, snow and the leafless trees. That is what I find most beautiful in God's creation of nature.

You know what's crazy?! God applies this contrast to us as well! We are called to be the light, standing out from this dark, sinful world we live in. We aren't called to hide in the shadows of darkness, but to stand up and let our light shine. As Christians, we are made to be the contrast in the world. Just like Jesus says in Matthew 5 (MSG),

"Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand."

Nathan and I have decided to be light-bearers in Scandicci, Italy! We challenge you to find your place to be bearers of light, to stand up and let your light shine so that the world can become brighter for Jesus Christ!

"Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."

Update time! Nathan and I have been working hard to make it to Italy. Some might not realize how much of a process going to a different country and preaching Jesus really is. It's not just a quick decision and a jump on a plane. I'm not going to lie, this part is HARD! Waiting is hard. Being patient is hard. Preparing is hard. I feel a little like Moses and Joshua!

Over the past month, we have been raising fund to get us there! Our trip requires monthly commitments and one-time gifts. As of this exact moment, we have $1,900.00 committed monthly and $6,143.00 in one-time gifts. We need $3,000 monthly and roughly 10,000 in one-time expenses. Ya'll, I'm going to be honest, we have come such a long way, but have a long way to go! We need people to partner with us! If you'd like to, please let us know! Anything helps get us there.... seriously. If you can do 10 dollars a month, AWESOME! If you can do 100 dollars a month, AWESOME! We want your partnership on this AWESOME mission sharing the Light.

If you are worried about whether or not we are going or if you're funds make a difference, WE ARE and THEY DO! We've sold furniture. Donated clothes. Passed up jobs. Sold a car. Moved home to spend time with family. We are ready! Our faith is at a high and our actions show commitment. God is blessing us! Show Him your love through spreading His word through us. You won't regret it :)
