Avanti Italia means "Onward Italy"

 

It is a Bible-based linguistic mission program in Scandicci, Italy, just outside of Florence. While the College Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas, sponsors and guides the program from the States, La Scuola Biblica (The Bible School) is largely independent and works with churches of Christ all over Italy. The main idea behind the mission is to conduct private Bible studies with Italians in English (this allows them to practice their conversational English), but that only accounts for about 60% of the work the team does. AI is heavily active in the local Florence Church of Christ and surrounding community, hosting numerous seminars, vacation bible schools, retreats, outreach programs and more.

 

AI workers conduct an English Bible study at the Bible School on Mondays and an English conversation class followed by an Italian Bible study at the Florence Church of Christ on Thursdays. The workers are also encouraged to seek opportunities to reach out to the community in their own special ways. Some Avanit Italia workers have participated in the Florence Band, coached Basketball, taught in the local schools, and helped out at the local hospital. Each of our talents help lead others to Christ, all because the workers decide to use their gifts to serve our Lord.

We are very excited to offer our talents and gifts to the Lord. We really appreciate the flexibility the Avanti Italia program offers its workers. We are able to spread the Good News of Jesus in our studies, but also able to fill other needs in the community.
